"ATJEH LON SAYANG" IN EMBASSY CANADA'S FOREIGN POLICY NEWSWEEKLY

Three Indonesian Documentaries Auditorium, Ottawa Public Library, 120 Metcalfe St. (www.asianheritagemonth.net) 6p.m. Free. Part of Asian Heritage Month in Ottawa. Three short documentaries from Indonesia will be screened this evening, starting with Ubat Até Allah Allah, Ubat Sösah Pëyasan Beuna about the power of traditional music as a form of spiritual therapy for traumatized children in Aceh, Indonesia (Dir. Alex Sihar. 2005. Acehnese with English subtitles). Next is Atjeh Lon Sayang (My Beloved Atjeh) featuring a few stories from some victims of the 2004 tsunami (Dir. Syaiful Halim. Acehnese with English subtitles). Last is Kara Anak Sebatang Pohon (Kara the Daughter of a Tree) set in the mountain slopes of East Java, musing on the media and anti-capitalism (Dir. Edwin).
